One potato, two potato, three potato, four!
Are you ever looking for a fun, simple treat to make for your dog with something that could possibly be in your cupboards? Well, we have a simple recipe for you! Who love sweet potatoes!?! I know I do, and like mama like daughter – so does my f1 labradoodle, Ollie! A few months back, one of our puppy people, Erin, let us know that she makes these treats for her two goldendoodles all the time! Step 1: Purchase Sweet Potato Step 2: Set oven to 250° Step 3: Peel Sweet Potato (this is very important! There is an ingredient called oxalates in the skin that is not great for the pups! This can upset their digestive system, kidneys, and urinary tract) Step 4: Cut potato into slices (this is where my pampered chef simple slicer comes in handy!) Step 5: Lay slices flat on cookie/baking sheet. Step 6: Cook for 1 hour. Flip. Cook for an additional hour. Step 7: Give to your dogs as a nice treat!! Sweet Potatoes are a great source of fiber – they can help with regularity and firm up the occasional loose stools. They are also full of cancer fighting anti-oxidants. They have natural anti-inflammatories, vitamins and minerals (including beta-carotene which is great for eyes and vision.) As with everything else, you need to be sure that you are only using these in moderation! Bon apetit! |
